Establishing fair trading practices will contribute to thehealthy development of the market, strengthen fair competition, and fosterbalanced relationships between suppliers and retail chains.
▪️ The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agricultureof Georgia plans to submit to Parliament, during the current autumn session, adraft law on the “Prohibition of Unfair Trading Practices in the Food SupplyChain.”
▪️ It is particularly important that the development of theregulation takes into account the specific characteristics of the Georgianmarket. Unfortunately, 90–95% of food products are imported; therefore, theregulation should cover all actual participants in the supply chain.
▪️ For years, the Association has advocated for the need tointroduce legislative regulation in line with international best practices,which would contribute to establishing fair trading practices.
